October Meeting Topics:
Silverlight and SharePoint Together (Applied Information Sciences)
SilverLight is the hot new technology from Microsoft for rich internet applications, providing client-side programmability with a subset of the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), allowing developers to leverage their existing WPF and .NET programming skills. The Silverlight Blueprint for SharePoint is Microsoft's jump start to marrying the SharePoint Web Platform with this exciting new technology. Applied Information Sciences, a Microsoft Managed Gold Partner will cover Silverlight basics, examine the Blueprint samples in detail, and explore some of the possibilities of the combination of these two technologies.
September 4 Meeting Topics:
Topic #1. The presentation will provide a demonstration of the enhanced search capabilities Ontolica Software provides SharePoint users. Portal Solutions, a Surfray Partner, will review a case study of how they implemented Ontolica for a client to improve the search functionality of SharePoint.
Topic #2. Chris Ott, Principal Systems Engineer at NextLabs, will present on "Governance Over SharePoint Environments"
Governance over SharePoint environments is a serious challenge. Who has access to what information? What information is being shared? What do my external partners and customers have access to? These are all critical questions that companies need to answer to protect intellectual property, ensure confidentiality, and demonstrate compliance.
